Nintendo's timeline of the Legend of Zelda series has been altered to make a minor revision, as well as to find a spot for the latest entry in the series.

So, in the first 'memory' you can get, it shows a ceremony with Zelda blessing Link, and essentially setting him up as the Hero. She talks about the Master Sword, and says something along the lines of 'whether Skyward Bound, traveling through time, or facing the glowing embers of Twilight, the Master Sword has always stayed loyal to the Spirit of the Hero'DISCLAIMERThat was not the direct quote, I was paraphrasing from memory.I haven't seen anyone else post this, but that's a blink and you'll miss it reference to Twilight Princess, proving once and for all that this game takes place very very late in the childhood timeline, presumably like 12,000 years after Four Swords Adventures. So that's pretty lit. SPOILER.
Just because this seems to be a good place for it, here's my toss up for this games timeline placement. All 3.I think that this game is a response to sealing the timeline. Essentially this, No matter which outcome has happened since the beginning it all leads up to Calamity Gannon. Either Link is defeated and the downfall happens and we end up here, or Link is victorious and the adult timeline ends up here, or the child timeline ends up here. No matter what 10,000 years of events happen and they all converge.
No matter what events happened over the last 10,000 years it was destiny that Calamity Gannon would end up taking over the Castle and layed Hyrule to ruin. So no matter what timeline you're in, you have 10,000 years for the timeline to correct itself. Zoras and Rito? Either the Rito evolved differently, or the few remaining Zora repopulated over the last 10,000 years, either way it leads up to this event. Ruto is or isn't a sage? 10,000 years is a long time for a different Ruto to be important enough at some point right? It's all just manifested destiny.
Actually, this is being highly debated on Zelda forums. There are like 100 replies all talking about this quote.
The general opinion is that this is sometime after TP, but FSA is the problemFSA comes after TP in the timeline. With the info we have, there is almost no way of knowing whether this is before or after FSA. IMO, it would make much more sense if this was after FSA, since Ganon gave up in reincarnation.
That means FSA could not happen, meaning that.BOTW is the latest game in the Child Timeline. Also, this means that since Demise, Ganon, and Vaati are all dead, The Child Timeline is basically complete at an eternal peace. That's completely false, and not even a thing you can say for certain, however. The child timeline has Ganondorf reincarnated in Four Swords Adventure, so we know factually he comes back that way and can continue to do basically the same thing he always does. There's no reason he can't fall into a cycle there just as well as he has in the downfall timeline. The child timeline is also the only one where Hyrule isn't fucked.
The downfall timeline has it collapse into basically what we see in BotW anyway, the adult timeline has it gone forever and on top of that stuff like the temple of time wouldn't even exist anymore. In BotW, Hyrule is in decline, yes, but it's also ludicrously far in the future after a golden age where Hyrule was supposedly a perfect civilization and had seen Ganon's revival and sealing enough times to accurately predict his arrival. There's no place for that in any timeline but the Child Timeline.

There's no place for that in any timeline but the Child Timeline. Is that a fair assumption? Their tech probably quickly boomed because they rediscovered tech from pre-Skyward Sword. Even looking at our own world, 200 years ago was so incredibly different, America barely existed. They discovered tech they don't even understand, they're still trying to figure it out, they can't really recreate it themselves.
It's likely only a few generations in the future at most even just considering how intact structures like the Temple of Time are. That building would not be like that 10,000 years later. It's likely only a few generations in the future at most even just considering how intact structures like the Temple of Time are. That building would not be like that 10,000 years later.considering the game directly says it takes place 100 years after link was put into stasis, and then says THAT was 10,000 years after another link beat ganon during a golden age of hyrule where they existed for long enough to learn the cycle of ganon's revival and knew how to beat it, i'm gonna say yeah it's been slightly over 10,000 years.you know what with the game literally using that exact number.
Microsoft published it for Xbox One. Dead rising 4 pc.
I'm thinking the 10,000 years ago bit happened BEFORE Ocarina of time at some point after Skyward Sword. This would explain all the ancient Shiekah tech being so similar to the pre-Skyward Sword tech. Then years went by and all the guardians and divine beasts were hidden etc.
Calamity Ganon was put to rest and Ganondorf was born in the Gerudo. Ganondorf caused a shit ton of havoc etc etc and was killed in all three timelines.Fast forward to a few generations after ALttP/TP/WW (we still don't know which timeline it falls in and I honestly can make an argument for any of the three)Thus Calamity Ganon starts to come back. The royal family realizes they can't just KILL Ganon. They do some research and learn of all the ancient Sheikah tech/divine beasts and guardians/shrines/towers hidden underneath the ground and begin to follow prophecy they found from 10,000 years prior.I think with the information given this makes the most sense to me at least.
Two consistent themes in Zelda have been rebirth through death and the innocence of childhood. The Timeline of the is so complicated and convoluted that many people claim that none of the games even take place in the same universe despite the fact that gives hints at each game's place in the timeline when they are released. On top of the fact that has no obvious system of measuring years, the timeline has been split by time travel, introduced parallel realities, and consists of two dimensions.Though there is no definite or official timeline, it is possible to tell each game's relation to the other games in the series by the various hints and allusions dropped in the games. So, in order to competently document the timeline of the Zelda series, this article will contain a list of each game, how that game relates to the other games in the series, and the in-game proof of this connection. If anything on this page happens to conflict with your own personal fabrications, please ignore it, as it was probably just a anyway. Though, if you notice something I forgot, missed, or simply conflicts with solid in-game facts, please feel free to fix it.
